The farmhouse, along with a 128 acres was purchased in 1972. The old farmhouse was remodeled during 1972, then was opened as an 8 table restaurant in 1973. Senator Cooper Snyder, who happened to own a hardware store in Blanchester, had talked Jane and Clearance Benney into converting the old farmhouse into a country restaurant. Mr. Benney had always wanted to own a hamburger stand, so they went for it. Spillway Lodge offers Prime Rib, Baby Back Ribs, Caramel Apple Pie, Glazed Salmon and more. It was a great place for first dates, memorials, graduations, anniversaries, etc. you name it. It has a great beer selection, always. It’s a perfect date spot for families too.
